Given the precarious power supply situation, the Ministry will continue to;
- Monitor the performance of the Electricity sub-sector and institutions involved in power generation, transmission, and distribution;
- Ensure the adequacy, accessibility, and reliability of electricity supply nationwide;
- Ensure Reduction in electricity Losses;
- Ensure a reduction in the cost of electricity;
- Encourage private sector participation in the electricity supply industry;
- Provide energy security through sub-regional and international cooperation;
- Ensure efficiency and productivity in the use of electricity;
- Develop and implement programs/roadmap to develop Electricity sub-sector in the country;
- Formulate and oversee the systematic restructuring of the electricity sub-sector; and
- Coordinate electricity trading in the Region and executing Regional interconnection transmission projects as well as generation projects.
